Last week we visited the Carnton Plantation, the Carter House and Rippavilla (in Columbia). The tours were very interesting and very sobering. It is sad that such a small area is dedicated to such important places in Civil was history. The folks who have restored these places have put so much into them, and the tourguides were very informative. We took my 12 yr old and she was amazed that something so tragic happened so close to home. She wasnt the least bit bored and learned a lot from this. It worries me that the younger ones have no idea about their history.
