1/2 set of HANDCUFFS found in the yard of an 1880 home I was detecting. So many questions. If only our finds could tell us their stories, some could probably write books.

I thought that about a bunch of finds that i have seen on here and that i have found.

Interesting find for sure. Sometimes they can tell the story, especially if you find a group of items and know the history of the site. It can be intriguing.

Always have thought the same thing, if only they could talk, and tell us their stories.

About 5 years ago I found a school ring way off the shore at Coney Island and was able to return it to the owner in Texas. The owner grew up in upstate NY, and graduated in the late 70's. When I asked him when was the last time he had been to Coney he told me that Never in his life had he been to CI. Denny told me at one point he married a girl from his HS and they were the first ones to move into a small building being renovated in a town called Hastings on the Hudson. one day they returned home to find it burglarized and cleaned out. All of their new jewelry, and jewelry that was passed down from their families was gone and none was ever recovered until I returned the class ring. he said the class ring was the very least of the jewelry taken and he had honestly never really given it a thought that that ring was even taken. Neither of us had any guess about how it traveled that far away. This isn't a story about me returning a ring rather a part of the story of the item itself that we almost never know. He is divorced now , living happily in south Texas.

I'll be back again to check:icon_thumleft:
