If it weren't for wheaties...

I'd be having a terrible month at the casino. Results from today -

***$40/Pennies***

Woo hoo, another [red]new[/red] date and another above average total.

Wheaties (11): [red]1917[/red], 1936, 1941, 1944 (3), 1947-S, 1951-S, 1953-D, 1956-D, 1957

Canadian (4): 1979, 1983 (2), 1998

***$40/Nickels***

In a word - awful.

Pre-1960: 1940-S, 1957-D, 1958-D (2)

Canadian: 1986, [red]1992[/red]

***$850/Halves***

Still way below average. If this continues for more than two weeks I'll know something's up.

1967, 2003-P, a 2000-P Sac $1 and two quarters.

It seems anything quarter-sized or larger can pop out of a 50¢ machine.

Tuesday is already in sight...

Keep at it... after all it couldn't be much worse and it didn't cost you much.

I took a little break myself and just got back into it with 8100 pennies searched over the weekend. Cold and a little snow kept me inside. Added $20-25 to the copper pile pulled 12-15 wheats and a 1997 zimbabwe something.

I stopped by one of my order banks and they were surprised to see me and placed an order for a few boxes of pennies, nickles, and halves.

Immy...What approximate % of casino pennies are pre-1984? I'm heading out your way in May for a Rush concert at Mandalay Bay and was thinking of bringing my Ryedale to sort some pennies...Any recommendations on a relatively cheap place to stay within walking distance of Mandalay Bay? Thanks!!

Re: If it weren't for wheaties...

It's lower than normal, in the 15-18% area (I think I gave an even lower estimate on another thread). I haven't done a good survey in a few months but that's probably close.

There's not a lot in the immediate area of Mandalay Bay. For anything near the Strip in general expect to pay $100-$200 a night. I called the Mandalay Bay convention center and asked them for low priced accomodations in the area. The only suggestions they had were the Luxor and Excalibur, not much help. And nothing within walking distance.

Always hopeful, yet discontent - "Tom Sawyer"
