IDX good or not?

I have an IDX Pro and it has served me pretty well over the past few years. I wont say it is a real deep machine but I like it. Most of my hunting has been old home sites here in east texas. I will say this about people of 100 years back around here they were awful poor.

YES it is and you won't be disappointed. Have took silver and indians 6 to 8 inches in mineralized ground. Main key is to know your detector. It won't find anything if you don't know how to use it.

Yes the IDX is a very good detector once you understand it's functions as WV-Detecting pointed out. I have a modified IDX Pro and bought a Classic ID which is basically the classic IDX without the Black Sand switch. I was a bit disappointed with depth on the Classic ID especially when using smaller coils and found i couldn't make the detector go bonkers at full sensitivity and sent it out for the mods and Whamo it was every bit as good on depth as the Modded IDX Pro.

The Classic IDX is excellent at target separation especially with a smaller coil and the All Metal ID is a high value facet on this detector.

Your Dad has a fine detector but with the modifications available on this unit it would become an outstanding detector in my opinion and worth the money if he likes the IDX. HH Bill

I love the one that I have. It always comes through for me I hunt a hunted out park most of the time and in the 3 years I have used it I have cashed in over $600.00 in clad. have only found 14 old coins around several old house places.I have no way of knowing if the dectector missed any or that was all that was there. By the way the park was only built there in1969.
