Found this today at a site in central TX.

Site dates from 1879-1930.

I have found ALOT of 1920s era items like this, but have never seen anything with the attachment point like this.

Women's hat ornament, sash buckle, fancy hair doodad, tie ornament?

It came out of the ground almost blood red, a very quick wipe down on my pants leg and she gleams again.

Not a single mark anywhere, even bent the tangs back a bit and checked.

And the animal I can't identify. It's very owl-like, but has a long snout and appears to have ears (or hair tufts).

It could be a very poor representation of an Owl/Cat/Wolf/Dog.

And the animal lies on a blue enamel fill.

Please someone help me identify it

I don't even like finding crap like this, but when I do I wanna know what it is! Haha!

Solved!!!! That's gotta be a record with how quick you figured that out!

As soon as you posted I googled "boy scout Neckerchief slide" and found an exact match, with red enamel.
