identify motar and pestle

I am new to this site. A friend wanted to to post a picture of the motar and pestle we bought. Maybe someone can help identify this. Not sure is it brass/bronze? It weighs about 6 lbs.

Ditto and welcome....brass mortars are traditionally used in India to freshly grind spices for a masala, or any spice dish. The heavy brass lends good control .
