Hello,

I bought a little metal pin at a flea market in Kyoto last month. The market had stuff from many different countries, although most of it was from Japan.

It looks like a plane surrounded by a gear, and I assume that is a capital letter I for the body of the plane. It could be a girder though I guess.

I'd like to know where it is from, and what the 'I' stands for if anyone knows? The pin is grey metal and it has a little screw-on serrated wheel to attach, not a sharp pin. It's about 3/8" diameter.

Thanks for any ideas!
Bob

Ok, being a pilot. It doesn't seem to have any monetary value but I wouldn't mind having one on my flight bag

Cool pin. Anything on the back?

Without additional clues, it's hard to say what it is. It doesn't "look" Japanese to me with the roman character 'I'. Although it could be the katakana character for 'eh'.

My guess is that its for a western aviation parts supplier - the I, the wings, and the gear... :dontknow:

Yeah I like it a lot -- I just want to know if it's evil or not!

There aren't really any other markings on it. That seems unmilitary --- I like the suggestion of a parts supplier, I will look into that thanks!

I spent a lot of time Googling last night but came across nothing really in the same style at all.

Here are a few other photos of the pin. It could be modern, like a steampunk thing.

I love the logo and want to put it on a t-shirt like so:
