Identify button

We found a small button in the Raleigh, NC area. It is smaller than a standard sport coat sleeve button. There is an eagle looking left, and it is grasping an anchor in its talons. Below the anchor are three cannon balls in a triangular formation. We thought it was a civil war button, but a friend said he thought it was a revolutionary war naval button. Can you help identify it? TSD

You really need to post a pic, and be sure to post both the front and the back. It is hard to say what your button is without a pic. There are many fashion or blazer button out there that use that pattern on their buttons. If the back is missing and looks like it was iron, than chances are you have a fashion button. But it could be military just as easy.
