Found in ground with just the top of the rounded side showing. Does not cause Garret propointer to react and is not magnetic. I do not believe it is metal. Seems to smooth on the inside to be a natural. Any ideas?

Yeap a natural rock with mineralisation. I have seen similar geodes.

Could be a pigment grinder. Native Americans ground minerals to mix with fat or water to make paint. The red color inside looks like some sort of pigment. That would also account for the smoothness inside -- they would have used a smooth stone to grind it with.

I found some of those while deer hunting in Arkansas. I still have them somewhere. Most were complete round balls but the only two I still have is a half like yours and two fused together and looks like a peanut. Mine are the size os a large cherry tomato.

I dont know squat about Native American history and the tools they used. It would seem to small to grind anything in. I can fit my thumb in it maybe. The reddish color inside got me thinking it might have held someinging metal. Im even less informed on the subject of geology. Arkansas probably has similar soil to East TN. Maybe a its just a rock that looks like metal. I find metal that looks like rock all the time. LOL
