Not one clue, Alabear. Sorry.

Thing of it is, while it may not be a recognisable "something," if the material is not one that occurrs naturally on the site, somebody carried it in from wherever to it with some purpose in mind.

Which just makes it a different category of "something," as I see it.

That kind of disagreement never gets settled.

So, if you need a name for it, it's a Category "B" Something.

I think it's just a rock, but Uniface has a point about material that's not native to that area. You said there was a lot of relics there; if you get the time post them so we can see what all you're finding.

You anywhere near Ridley tractor?? Saw your profile and saw the river. Nice area.

I worked that for years. My Father had the tractor place of over 50 years until my brother stole it out from under him. I can give you some advice. Don't buy from him. He is a con man. But back to relic hunting. This is a great place to hunt. Relics everywhere. Alabear

Hey Alabear
Just back from sweedens cove. To late I bought a polaris 700 from them a few years ago now they do not even carry polaris.
Yes I have hunted guntersville to watts bar for 34 years. Have a lot from the guntersville area there. i know every inch above and below that river, lol. Were you diving down there when they were pilling up all the cw shells from battlecreek?
TnMountains

I know they said they found these in Battle Creek, but I think they might be throwing some divers off. I went up and down Battle Creek before they found the shells with a under camera and it is nasty and trashy, but they might have found them there. It would be some hard diving. I really think they found them in the Sequachie River up at the crossing where the Confederate's attacked the Union supply train. I know they have been pulling a lot of good stuff out of there for years. Maybe they did find them there. It really don't matter as long as they got them. It was some very good finds. I know I pulled a lot of U-Rail out of Battle Creek and did not even get my feet wet. We might need to get together some time and you could show me where you got you stuff around the banks. You know they would be a lot more relics in the water about 10 to 12 feet out from the bank. Alabear

I saw them diving at the mouth of Battlecreek. They had an old house boat to work off of. They put out a dive flag when i came by after i asked if I was going to run over someone with all the air bubbles coming up. This was mid last summer.Never saw them in little seq at the old bridge.I had to go rescue a 90 year old guy that day that got swept up the creek in a small flat bottom when they raised the water. He was about 2 miles up and holding onto a branch.I hauled him out he was worn out. Yeah those guys dug a site of mine on private property with out permission. The landowner and myself were pretty upset not one hole filled. All research lost to trespassers,,grrrrr
We do sift on the edges before the big drop offs in the river and do ok. Go down and hold on to old stumps and see what we find. Also dig out around sunken trees. All the islands have about 5+ or more feet of debri but of course you cant dig that. They have warned us not to dig and know us and also know we dont dig,, Lot of bone in that river. I saw spots I hunt on your google map on your home page,

I have not never hunted Sweedens Cove, but I hear they have been a lot of relics come out from there. Have you hunted the mountain side of Sweedens Cove? I know the guys you are talking about. They come down here to Bridgeport. The guy who sells most of the stuff they find on Ebay will give them a Tesoro detector and tell them to go dig everything. They will hunt in All-Metal and dig everything they can find and never cover a hole, but he is the only guy I ever seen that can sell a old mule or horse shoe for 20.00. About the diving. I will look around the mud and rock line. Sometimes I will get up in the mud and look around the tree tops and the old logs, but that is where the old big cats are and they scare the @#%t out of me when I run one out, but if you are bottle hunting that is where most of them are. I was down 1 and 1/2 hour yesterday and never found the first bottle until I got up in the mud and tree tops. I picked up a bag full in about 10 mins. Not of them was anything good. I did wee a lot of Civil War bottles, but they all were broke, but I have found some nice ones. I don't dig underwater, but if I find a old boat I will try and move some of the old boards and look for bottles.

I would think around the old rail road bridges there might produce some Cw era bottles. Also the historic civil war bridge there in whiteside(nick-a-jack) the foundations are still there and plenty of historic pics on line of the camps might be good for bottles. I have a few and they have a good bottle section on here(t-net) and a guy named Harry Priest and Road dog know there glass.
Check it out.
We hunt the rivers by boat. You are right though its spooky water and those cats are very big.
Maybe we can hook up sometime when we are both out and sit for a few.
Yeah I have all the way from the bottoms up to the top of Orme mtn all of Boltons point, blue hole and honeycutt cave and Gilliams cove . Hunt it all and you need to have a tesoro.
Tell those guys that dig if you see them that everyone in the cove is still looking for them even after a year. A list I would not want to be on :help:
Glad I met ya be safe and enjoy your hunts.
Look forward to seeing some of the points and tools when you get a chance to post some more.
