can anyone identify these objects? found in high falls area of Rochester NY. The ball is the size of a tennis ball very heavy, I believe its lead and it has the letter N or Z on it. It also has a seam down the center of it, with what looks like a tiny port, ot very shallow hole. I thought maybe some sort of military cannon ball, just not sure. Very interested in finding out just what it is. Thanks again There has to be someone out there who can tell me what this leadball is. I know its not a carpet ball! Any clues?

PS............Welcome here!!

Not a carpet ball, I believe its a cannon ball, might be wrong, Its lead the size of tennis ball and weights about 3 pounds, theres a seam around it and a tiny hole also the letter z or N on it. Found it in Park off jay street Rochester NY. Thanks. also if you can I have quite a few tokens and no cash value pieces, also a few transit tokensm I believe are old from when they had the subway in Rochester NY

Sorry but there's no such thing as a lead cannonball.
That metal is far too soft and would deform before exiting the barrel

I know nothing about your area or metal detecting in general but the 3lb ball is a down rigger weight for fishing my buddy has the exact same thing on his boat he got the boat from his dad the hole in the top is where the steal eye would have been for attachment to the down rigger cable. Lots of older fishermen have them still in use here in Washington.

Thanks for the ID on the ball, interesting, although a bit disapointed. Do you know if there is any value to it, just curious?
