My son asked me to post some finds he made. any help appreciated. 1st item brass oval with small holes in both ends. 2nd item round brass, back has 2 bent over hooks. 3rd item is brass, looks like thumb tack. 4th item brass, middle section is damaged but looks square. top and bottom have 2 small holes 20160426_205140.jpg20160426_205058.jpg

The first is a coin slot escutcheon, second an upholstery tack, third no idea ,the one in your hand is the toggle half of a toggle wall anchor I think.

I think the one in his hand is a Colonial era kneebuckle. "The "small hole in both ends" is where the central pin/chape fit into the buckle. The large disc with two tabs on its edge is "ornamentation" for leather. I agree on the furniture tack. The oval with a rectangular slot is a strap escutcheon from a McClellan saddle. Can't tell you which model-year it's from, because those saddles had the same strap escutcheons from the 1850s through at least the 1940s. The photo below shows one on a model-1859 McClellan saddle.

The oval buckle is an 18th C knee buckle.
