Interesting piece what is it made of ?

I think it may be hard sandstone

Maybe a game piece idk for sure very cool either way ;) looks like a champagne cork haha

The texture of it is almost like pumice stone

Small mano? Hmmmm...

I've seen a larger piece like the one shown here. The only difference was size and type of stone. The one I have seen was jasper and I was told it was for working the insides of pottery smooth. I'm not sure, that's what I was told!!

Interesting and I thought cork when I saw it. Thanks for the look

Hmmm..... a midden find west central FL. looks a lot like your piece, apparently made of local limestone/sandstone.
:dontknow:

Hey there Tom.
I've been to the spot it was found and I held the piece in my hand.
It has use wear for sure.. Looks like impact damage on one end.
This is purely a guess but it sort of looks like a pecking stone type of artifact for dismantling shell to make into tools.
JMO.
What do you think fla gal?
" shell refuse all around that place"

Sounds very plausible to me ;)

It's the cylindrical shape of them that makes them weird to me. Mine was also found amongst broken shell refuse and pottery sherds and all the rest of the stuff they used, LOL. Ah, to be back then for just a few days.

Sounds to me like they're twins
