Good images.. Thou to clearify it a bit farther.. try getting them wet. This can help others determine what they are.. About the only thing I see.. is what appears to be differant forms of jasper, Except for the "green" stone.. Chalk tourquosie maybe.. If it was wet I might change my comment.

Thanks so much for your reply. Here are two pics of the green one, wet. It kind of beads up like it's 'waxy'

Gosh.. You've stumped me.. Sotimes holding stones offers me a clue into what they might be.. Something tells me its chalk tuorquoies.. but I have a feeling its soemthign totally diffrant.. Apearing to be more jasper or even agate in form.. Use better light and get or crop imaegs a bit closer. Thx.

I asked my wife to take a look at the green stone.. she even thinks it's chalk tourq.. thou wwe both feel it could even be a for of jadite or even jade in it's raw form. But again better pic would be needed to correctly id this stone for you. I'll do more research on this topic via my source books. Will return a response next week.

No they have not been altered by ancient man if that is what you are asking. But that green one is a keeper! Still not altered though.

Jasper is opaque, meaning no light passes through.
So all and any stones that let light through you can assume not being jasper.
I prefer to have pics dry, so one can see the lustre of the stone. Helps with ID, guess we all have different preferences.

It does have a chalcedony-resembling lustre. But something just doesn't seem right.
Have you tried scratching it with a knife? Quartz?

The only thing I know for sure is that I DON'T know anything. The more I research, the more confused I get. I did try to scratch it with a knife but to be quite honest, I don't know if it scratched or not. I guess that would mean it probably didn't if I can't see anything.
