Hi, I found this in the woods behind my house today, it was found about 4 inches down on an overgrown old road next to a newer old road. If it was unfolded it would be about an inch wide and about 3 inches long, it must have been round at one time to be folded up the way it is. The initials are JC and then 3 makers marks of some kind I think, it also says Bencox and London on it. Any ideas? Thanks!

It may be part of a cane or riding crop. Google Bencox/London and they come up.

Maybe a collar for a walking stick, as stated by fyrffytr1, check out this listing

"Catalog # 807 Price: $ 600"
"L- Shaped Pencil Cane with Sterling Silver Mounts, Silver Collar with English Hallmarks and the Date Mark for 1931 and Stamped "BENCOX", London, Knobby Hardwood Shaft with 1-1/8" Metal Ferrule, 33"L."

Of course maybe a little older than this walking stick.

Thanks guys for the quick ID, most all of the finds out there seem to be from the early 1900's, except maybe the .64 caliber musketball I found recently.

Date letter is 1919.

Spot on date :icon_thumright:
assayed in London which makes sense.
John Culver seems to be the Makers Mark.
Swagger stick or Walking stick trim :icon_thumright:
