ID for Italy Gold Maker's Mark

I have a 16" ladies gold necklace, that I am trying to establish the identity of the maker.

I've attached a photo's showing the hallmark as 18K, and ITALY and "BEN" stamped near the clasp. The clasp itself is marked "750".

I believe I purchased this in the 1980's in Los Angeles, CA, in the well known Downtown Gold Mart area.

After much research online, the only possible lead I came up with is the Luca Benfaremo Goldsmith firm. I realize that their current Maker's Mark is not BEN (I think it is LB), but thought perhaps they may have used BEN some years ago. I e-mailed them with photo's several months ago - but no response.

Any help is appreciated

What does it say on that little I-hook? I see something, but can't focus in on it... I don't know who those makers marks are for, but for sure some part of it came from Italy. The marks may only be the manufactures mark of the little attachment assembly to the chain and not the maker of the whole piece.
