Greetings people. Below is a part of an email I sent to Whites Eastcoast. ( so far no reply after one week)
I am wondering if anyone can help me track down the best person to contact or where to send my detector to get it repaired.
I believe it may still be under normal warranty but I am happy to pay for any aditional costs. I just want get my coil back on the soil ( or sand :).

Thanks for any help

I have a Beachmaster 300 ID.

Which I bought new from Kellyco in 2013.

I have been using the machine fine since then, however recently it has developed a problem.

It turns on ok, it hums( white noises). However, it does not detect anything.

I can swipe it over over large metal object or dry air and it makes no difference, it just hums.

I have done all I can do- new Energizer alkaline batteries, air testing with coins and gold, fiddling with the knobs etc. Nothing seems to make it able to detect.

Pick up the phone and give Sweet Home a call.

Rob, Here is right i live on the east cost Ohio. And if i need any thing from whites i always call ..Sweet Home Oregon .. I get faster and better service there than at any of the other service centers..It might cost me a bit more in shipping but in the long run there service is better and cost is lower .. 1-541-367-6121

Are the new BH ID 300's having problems? I hope not cause I'm looking to purchase one this spring. Anyone else own one with no probs and good results?

Thanks guys.
Because I am not in USA it makes things more tricky. With repair centres not willing to ship OS. ( even when I offer to pay for it !)
I sent off an email to Kellyco and asked for their advice. Asking if they will help me out. PS. I purchased it new in May '14 so it should be under somesort of warranty.

It does seem Sweet Home is the best bet.
As it is the unit is useless to me. I just feel like bundling it in a box, shipping it off to Sweet Home with a note and contact info. Hoping they will fix it.
Worry about $ and shipping after.

Its a good machine, it does what it does well enough.

But I get the impression that due to the environment any and all machines will break or get troubles its just a matter of time and luck.

So what is important is after sales service. So lets see how this goes.

Well good luck and I hope you get it fixed and up and running ASAP. Keep us posted what the outcome and what the prob is. I'm curios to know as I'm wanting a BH.

You would think that you bought there product so Whites or Kellyco would help you out … I would keep on both of them until they help you out .. I really think a email to Kellyco might not work out … Your detector is not even a year old and you are getting the run around. If nothing happens i would do that bundling thing and hope for the best ..You would think you bought from kellyco they would try to help you .. Well good luck and keep us posted ..

I was going to ask the same thing. The dealer you bought it from should have a responsibility of making your warranty right.

First mistake you made was KellyBLOW, they fail to honor their warranty most of the time, call OREGON !

Kesha...I too have tried twice to contact the White's repair center for region 3. After three weeks I contacted White's main office and Mary told me to send my machine to the Sweet Home office for repair. I suggest you do the same.

Thanks guys, it seems you're right.
Mary replied and said send it to sweet home, but I pay postage.
So that is where I am at the moment. I will update the thread as new developments come to hand.

The kellco sales rep who sold me the unit did not reply to my email yet, it's possible she is on holiday or no longer an employee. I am not going to bother following up with them.

Thanks all for your replies.

Well good luck to you ..And yes Sweet Home is the best place to send it .. There other repair centers are a waste of time and not that good.. But Sweet Home they are tops you can not beat them..

Yes i talked to Mary in Sweet Home today and i will say when it comes to giving help … At Sweet home they are super fast and very nice .. All i can say about Whites service is i do not think it can be beat …

Update:
I have received the unit back again and used it twice on the beach. It seems to be working OK, but for some reason is very very jittery- like over sensitive. Always beeping and flashing now. Basically there is no way I can use it in discrimination mode. Maybe I live in a very noisy environment, with tons of EM interference. I know the beach I was at has a small billboard and lighting along the footpath about 50 metres away or perhaps there changing mineralisation- some patches are thick and sandy others were blacksand and rubble. Its hard to know without more testing.
I dont recall it being this bad when my detector was new ( on the same beach).
I only found a few rusty coins.

Whites service was quite fast and friendly, Sweet Home was the way to go. The definitely stand behind their products and fixed up some little things ( like the headphones) as well.

Make sure you are ground balanced properly and do not use too much sensitivity. Too much will cause it to chatter away and cause erratic blinking and false reading of the lights. Cut down the sensitivity if you're experience too much chatter.

Well I took it out for a third time and it's just totally erratic, beeping and flashing constantly. Even in battery test mode. Completely unusable. I am going to have to send it back again.
On my way back home from the beach now feeling very disappointed.

Very strange that this is happening right after you got it back from being supposedly fixed. Seems like Whites didn't test it very well after they fixed it. Something is definitely not right there. Is there a lot of EMI where you are hunting? Cell phone in your pocket? Is your coil cover clean and free of dirt? Are you using high quality AA batteries? Is your sensitivity up too high?
