I will be traveling to the Clarksburg area of WV this week and understand Metal Detecting is a big no in WV.

Is there anyone who can bring me up-to-date on the laws of MDing in WV.

I surely do not want to get into trouble away from home.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Also if MDing is OK I would not mind hooking up with others for a hunt.

I MD in west Virginia all the time i never have any troubles .Schools are hit n miss private property n city parks r a go. good luck lots of Civil War relics in WV i dig m all the time here.!!!

Who told you hunting WV is a big no? Never had an issue here. Same as other areas -- get permission on private land, stay away from national park properties, but public parks are ok unless posted otherwise. Have fun!

Again I am planning my yearly trip to Clarksburg WV.
Anyone interested in hooking up for a hunt or 2?
I will be down there mid July.

I am about 15 minutes from clarcksburg

I go every year in July for a reunion.

Would love to do some CW relic hunting.

Well I am pretty new to the game and don't have a whole lot of places, I can do some research of phillippi and maybe find some spots, I mean that is where the first land battle took place.

That would be awesome I'm used to just doing beaches around here for the most part and occasionally a park.

I have been hunting for about 12 years now.

I am actually leaving now to go to the beach to do a little hunting with a friend.
