I went back to the field where I found that chain purse and the 1893 Indian Head Penny... well again it paid off... this time I found a 1925 Wheat and a super smooth 1899 Barber Quarter!!! woo hoo! 2 PRE 1900 coins in a week and none all year long... there must of been a house there around the turn of the century... anyhow I'm happy!

my partner found one of those large eagle buttons... I believe WWI era...

Sweet! Barber quarter, 1800's, hard to get! Hit that place hard, has to be more!

especially for my area it only dates back to 1875

Awesome job buddy, worn or not it your now!!! :icon_pirat:

Oh nice..that coin could have been circulated thru the 20's-30's..My Dectecting buddy found one like that (pre-1900's - very worn) at a park that was huge in the 30's..Nice Find!!

True, might even be 40s

Awesome recoveries there!

Was the coin purse you found the other day relatively close to the coins you found?

yes the 1899 quarter was 20 feet to the left and the 1893 Indian Head was 15 feet in front of that... also found a 1925 and 1919 wheat with in that 20 foot radius of that purse.

Oh and thanks everyone for the positive comments... I hope you enjoy my finds as much as I do!

Love seeing the older silvers you guys dig up down south.

Heck, I'm lucky even finding a silver from the sixties (only one found so far in 2 years of digging, and that's 1960's).

Congrats on a nice find Chuckers! :icon_thumright:

Thanks I appreciate the comments...

even though sites like that don't produce much they do produce the older ones... when I go hunting a place like that and only get 3 or 4 coins in 3 to 4 hours it seems like a waste of time... but all it takes is a look at those dates and that woohoo feeling comes back again!

Thanks for the compliment...

I really don't find that much silver... not counting the silver jewelry... This year I have found 58 silver coins in 142 days of hunting... thats not very good odds in my opinion.
