I wasn't going to post anything today, BUT the gas station changed my mind...
Oberkill and myself got out for a while today and lost more body weight than anything else. It was friggin hot and the ground is like concrete. I gave up on a couple signals because I couldn't pick down far enough with my digger. Found a few bullets and some kids medallion. Nothing to write home about, but I was happy I got a few more civil war bullets to add to the collection...
Below is a fired minie, a round ball, and some smaller caliber round ball. Haven't even cleaned them yet. Found the medallion on some school ground. It looks silver, but doesn't seem to weigh enough. It only says Italy on the back, so I suspect it's aluminum.
Now here is the only reason I posted anything today. I just stopped at the gas station to feed my bad habit, and someone had JUST come in before me and paid for $30 in gas with half dollars. The clerk was just picking through them and I asked if I could buy some. I hurriedly grabbed out all the 60's halves I could see and a couple bicentennial halves before the clerk scooped them all up and put them to the side so she could pick and choose.
Someone educate me. Is it only dollars that are 40% silver 65-69? Or does that work for halves as well ? I got one 64, a 66, 67 and a ratty 68 and the two 1976 halves. I wish I could have picked through more, but I think the clerk wanted my head for even asking plus I used my last dollars on these
