I was afraid that I was going to end my silver streak before I reached 150. I knew that it was suppose to rain today, but it wasn't raining early this morning when I decided go hunting. On my way to the site it started spitting rain.
When I arrived at the site I noticed that the pile of trash between the curb and sidewalk had been removed. That's the only area that I haven't had a search coil over. I pulled out my Omega started swinging away and found nothing but a few modern coins. This ain't good! The rain is coming and no silver.
I saw a guy pull into the driveway two doors down, so I rushed over to get permission to detect his yard. He didn't speak English, but he understood that I had detector in my hand and that I wanted to detect his yard. Si
Anyhow he left and I started grid searching the yard, starting closest to the street. I found around 10 wheat pennies but no silver coins and the rain started getting more than a just spitting rain and I only had just a few feet to go before reaching the house in my grid search.
Finally, I got my search coil over a good target. The VDI number was 85/86. I dug down just a few inches and popped 1936 Mercury dime, just as the rain started coming down really good. I ran for the car and headed for home after only an hour or so detecting.
Omega Version 6 settings: 4 tones, discrimination 0, sensitivity 70, GB 63 using the NEL Sharpshooter coil.
This was my 52nd hunt for the year and my silver coin total for the year now stands at 150. All done without getting skunked on a single hunt.
