I doubt anyone noticed my absence but I didn't just stop posting about a month ago because I got bored.
I was sick. Sick enough that today was my first time hunting in a quite a while! So, when that first signal
came up as a stinkin' Lincoln, I was celebrating!! I made it out again! I'm still not all the way back but enough for a 5 1/2 hour constitutional walk today! LOL

Boy! I am TIRED! But, it's a very NICE tired! :)

Here's the overall:

Don't know about this one, a zipper pull?

True to norm, I was finished hunting for the day. 5.5 hours is a very long time! LOL
I got this hit that was a cross between a pulltab and a zincoln. I shrugged my shoulders, then I said,
"OK. I'll dig this penny up and then turn off the machine and walk back to the car."

It turned out to be an aluminum screw cap and I said, "Figures."

I patched my hole and stood up, moved my detector to the right while looking for the off button.

It beeped! I actually said, "OH ....SHORTY!!!!" LOL

Of course, it read a strong 84.

I knelt down, stabbed the ground, flipped the plug over and this is what I saw:

Something just VERY fitting about this one, eh? LOL

Here it is cleaned up.

It came out of the ground shiny. But, it's not marked. Initial testing shows silver.
It seems to be fairly well made. But, would they put an emerald in a closed setting like this one?

In any case, all's well that ends well. Besides, Blingie is happy!

Happy to be back.

Thanks for peeking!

Really. Just curious what would indicate that to you. I didn't think they would put an emerald in a closed setting anyway. But, what do you see?

The "zipper pull" looking thing may be just that.. Chances are good that it was from a COACH purse or handbag.. They also put those charms on women's clutches/wallets and even some shoes

I size and repair rings for a living, so I work with a variety of stones on a daily basis. what I see in your picture is a green stone with a uniform color and clarity. genuine emeralds generally have inclusions, which could be black spots or cloudy areas or slight cracks deep inside the stone. of course, just like with diamonds, there are flawless emeralds but the expense/value of such stones would be crazy to mount in a silver setting. but again, I'm just making my opinion based on your pictures

Actually I did notice your absence. I'm glad you are feeling better. Congratulations on the finds!

Nice hunt. I very seldom have the chance for a 5 hour hunt, but I'll tell you, it would make me tired.

I would have noticed you absence, since you are one of my favorites to read. :-)

I'm glad you are feeling better.

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful encouraging responses/likes. It was a long hard road back.

I don't usually hunt for that long but, it had been sooo long and I was so much enjoying my walk. Even though it was all new stuff. I just wanted to live with it for a while. :)

I am still very tired, but, happy.

Thanks again!

Glad your able to MD again. 5 1/2 hours in the field and I'd be crawling back to the truck, congrats! The ring looks like a birth-stone ring maybe.
