Hey everyone,
Late last night I texted my brother that I was due for:
-A barber
-An old nickel (buffalo or V)
-A multi-silver day
Lucky me, two of those three came true today!
I decided to hone in on my neighborhood and found some really nice stuff.
First place I hit was a little sidewalk strip I got permission for earlier this week. I turned up a small handful of wheats.
Next I hit the yard of a permission, only got a single tax token.
Next I doubled back on some strips I did yesterday and picked up more wheats.
Then I did another permission yard and things went nuts! 2 of my first 4 digs were the Rosie and Merc. I kept picking up wheats all over the place (including the 15-S) and when doubling back got the Sterling ring.
While I was doing that yard I noticed some neighbors pull up and go into their house. Today was an incredibly rainy day in Seattle so I was a complete mess, but I decided to introduce myself and ask if I could do their sidewalk strips. They didn't mind so off I went.
Must've been my second hit I got a nickel signal at 4 inches. I've been thinking about how I've found a lot of old wheats and Indians lately but no old Nickels. I saw the Buffalo and started celebrating. Little did I know it was a 1913-S in beautiful condition!!
I talked to another neighbor while leaving and got permission to do her sidewalk strips whenever. What a day!! Only thing missing was the barber, I'll have to get that soon.
The finds:
The tally:
-1 Buff (1913-S Type 1)
-1 Merc (43-S)
-1 Rosie (46-S)
-1 Sterling ring
-13 Wheats (11, 15S, 20S x2, 27S, 30S, 37, 38S, 40S, 42D, 44S, 46S, 47)
-5 Tax Tokens
-Some huge veterans token from 1977
-A "Junior Safety Officer" pin
-An old buckle?
Thanks for looking folks. Man this is a fun hobby, especially on days like today. Good luck out there!
