The very next day after finding a Georgivs a couple of weeks ago, I wound up in the ER with pneumonia. It took all of about 48 hrs of doing nothing at home for me to start whinning I was bored stiff. So they let me outside briefly as long as I didn't go far :tongue4:. I made it as far as the front yard. The good news is I could still hear the detector over the wheezing as long as I used the headphones :icon_pale: Plus I hardly noticed the fever with the detector in my hands, they should really market these things as a cure all.
Property has been in my families hands for over 100 years, I can always find something to make me smile. I had my system worked out, swing, rest, walk, wheeze, rest, swing..I decided to dig a hit and to my surprise it was a planting marker tag my grandmother was infamous for, still has her hand writing on it. My grandmother that lived here was some what of a pen pal, except she exchanged seeds with people from around the world. These were Strawberries from England.
That was enough excitement to get me up and moving again, I soon had a coin hit. A 1905 V nickel, I chuckled once, coughed twice and peed my pants a touch, time to go back inside after that. Thanks for looking and happy hunting out there!

Finding something you can tie to your grandmother is really cool. The nickel is a great find. I recently found a pewter cap gun and badge on some old family property that my brother played with 43 years ago when he was 5. Hope you feel better so you can get back out there and find some more stuff!

Thanks Capt. I'm feeling much better, I'll have that detector in my hands this weekend, in between the rain showers. I grumble about rain but it softens that ground just enough to get some good readings.

Nice coin Charlene. It is very meaningful to detect family property or hunt CW sites where ancestors were camped. Hope you get back up o 100% very soon. HH, Quindy.

You are lucky to have such an awesome historical place to hunt. I don't think I'd go anywhere else!! Nice find of your grandma's and congrats on the V. they are tough to find.

Hello Charlene I am not supposed to be swinging either ( tennis elbow :'( ) But I can't stay away either :laughing9: Nice finds MaineRelic

I love that planting marker, Charlene!

BUT....don't let your treasure hunting fever prevent you from nursing your other fever!

We want you around for a long, long time!

Larry G. :)
Thanks Larry, I'm telling you, that detector gives me reason to get better!

I'm always in awe of this place cntrydncr, my first find was a cache of silver my grandparents had buried. I've been hooked ever since.

It was once an alms house or as we called it a Poor House Farm, even the road was called Poor House Road, it saw some CW soilders, then at one point it was used to house the county's females prisoners. Nothing but respect from me. Thanks Quindy.

Charlene,
Get yourself totally well as I know what you mean by being really hooked with this hobby/sport/exercise routine we have. Being totally well and out enjoying swinging and listening IS the way to be. 100 years worth of memories on your family home site, WOW is all I can say. What cemented me to this hobby was my first gold ring found in the dirt that under a sidewalk repair. Your Avatar is way Cool!!........63bkpkr

Take good care of the elbows, or we'll have to adjust your walk to a swing LOL. I admit, I'm a metal detecting addict too, so I feel for you MaineRelic.

I love hearing the stories of what first got a person hooked on detecting

I about choked when I read your post. Hilarious! Thanks for the laugh.

Looks like getting out for a bit was just what the doctor ordered. Hope you are completely better soon!
