Sure looks like a Harpeth River to me...Early archaic, beveled type. They look alot like a Dalton Nuchols with a straight base at that size, the edgework or beveling is what sets them apart.

man,uniface
alright got uniface to chime in.i have a nother piece to show him later, well you herd what he stated.i never thought about that, but when they wear them down like that,do they spend the time to pressure flake it?well let me set ya striaght,i really dont know if it has been pressure flaked, but all the flakes look spaced out pretty darn good all the way down it on both sides.oh it has a pretty good slant on both sides on the pictured side but pretty much flat on the other.but not uniface the pretty darn good spaced flakes show up there also. jamey

man 37
NOW i think this guy knows his stuff, and this is what i thought it was, well it may just be now.i knew it was pretty old,,,,just he just win? jamey p.s. i dont think he saw what i said after uniface chimed in because his answer was up there before i got done pecking on this keyboard,..

Those Harpeth Rivers are beveled on all four sides typically, like this <> roughly, creating flat areas between the edges. They are interesting early types...nice find.

ah tn mountians.
now this guy is a true friend,im telling ya people i really didnt know squat about arrowheads, since i found my frist two points, well one might have been a broken drill,he has been sharing his knowledge with me.he has taking me two a world long forgotten here in tenn for the most part i have yet to meet him.a great site only is because of gentelmen like the ones you meet here on tn.uniface,37,tn mountains,i could go on and on.you could learn alot on here about gathering arrowheads, selling arrowheads, making arrowheads.some lessons are harder to learn so i caution ya to listen well.i think 37 has won this point,if you disagree state it fast, and if he gets it i know it has a good home, jamey

well i guess thats it,wished you waited a little longer to reply 37,do you want the point, send me a pm,jamey

Thanks alot Jamey I really appreciate the nice point. That point will have a nice home in a frame of Tn. artifacts. I got my guess in early, you got to be quick with all the seasoned vets around here, lol. Thanks again man.

ya from tenn.newt.i hope he will post better pictures of it on here when he gets it..jamey

Hey Jamey , did you ever hunt that spot on your family land in WV? If you're ever in the southeastern part of WV, or western Va. with some time to hunt, send me a pm, I'll put us on a couple spots.

hey 37,
no i havent.its been a few years now since ive been there.still think about it though.when i do ill let ya know so we can hopefully get a killer piece. jamey

Not that it matters too much by now, but
when they wear them down like that,do they spend the time to pressure flake it?
You'll notice that the further in toward the center the edges of a point are moved, the steeper the edge angle generally gets. Start out with a thick but well proportioned point, end up with the chunky stub of one.

The re-edging could have been done by pressure flaking, or just as easily by punching.

Thanks for the kind comments Jamey. You hunt one of the most fasinating and prehistoric river areas I have ever seen. I have many a childhood memory playing and fishing in that river and one really great scar. Always look forward to seeing what you find. Thank you sir.
Did you ever make it over towards the Duck or Elk Rivers? I can give you a farmers name over off the Elk River in coffee county if you like.

its never to late for me to learn something uniface, and i thank you for your comments.i always read your posts and comments.
tn.mountians your welcome as always.i havent been hunting much because of the kids being in school like to think im the reason my son has stayed on the honnor role all year in his 5th.my daughter is doing really well also but as a first grader she does not get the a b c grades.just s'es but well loved by all who meet her,and thats what ive been doing, yes i love it more then finding arrowheads.that has come to an end today as school is over for the summer and they will be going to thier moms for most of the days in the comming months.ill get bored and start to hike again real soon.ive meet alot of people who had said im welcome to look at thier place, but i just have to figure out were i can ship my job off to. jamey
