I understand the phrase "Fleabay"

Well, when I looked at my charges, I saw the following:

1. Extra Photo charges --which I won't do unless it is necessary
2. Listing Fee--did get some free
3. This one really gets me "Postage charge?" Your kidding me? I pay a fee to list, get charged a fee when I sell an item, then pay postage and get a postage fee charge again?

Geez!

don't forget about your Pay-your-Pal fee and if you sell over seas you will get a currency conversion fee.

You should be getting 50 free listings a month. As far as photos go, you can use an free image hosting site such as http://www.use.com/ and it'll never cost you an extra dime for pictures. plus they have plenty of free templates to choose from too. The postage fee is something they just started recently because of people selling items of value for .99 and charging $100.00 for shipping to get out of paying the final value fee. You have to figure about 12% of the final value is what it's going to cost you to sell your item on feebay. I have a couple ebay accounts that I use so I can list 100 items a month for free. One is my wifes account.

Hello, Yes, the Paypal fee really gets me mad! They charge you a fee plus a percentage to get payed by someone else who bought your item. If you sell something on eBay that brings only .99 cents and is heavy enough to make a fair shipping charge, your fee is based on the entire amount you are paid EBay and paypal take $1.10 of your .99. Its the base fee that kills anything you make. Thanks, Paul

I look at it this way...

I can sell many items on that site for more money than I can anywhere else and ONLY have to pay 12% and no store overhead, etc. I don't have to lug stuff to an antique mall, it's gone fast and the money is in my account instantly. I didn't have to pay the millions and millions in advertising over the past 15 years to establish a brand name either.

And if you do your research, you should know if an item is going to sell before you even list it. If I don't think an item is going to sell, I'll find another way to sell it.

Take your items to an auction house. They are going to take 30% of the cut and it will sell to someone who will list it on ebay and make more money on it than you did, ha.

I love how eBay and PayPal pretend they are two different countries so they can charge you twice.

I still sell a few things on eBay, particularly scrap gold, but I can cite several instances where I actually got more $$$ from an item at the antique mall than the average going price on eBay. I pay a small amount to rent 100 square feet and 10% of final value. Plus I get to display all my stuff in one place and the mall doubles as a storage unit.

I stoped selling since I was losing all porfits in fees. Just not worth it anymore.

I sell on eBay and am tired of losing money also.. Has anyone sold there treasures on etsy.com?
