I went after work to a spot that was there in 1939 pix and gone in the 1951 pix. I was out there for like 1 hour, I found a 1939 IL licence plate, an old intacked salt shaker, a good 10 old shotgun shells, tons of old broken embosed bottels, and I also found a hobo camp!!!! It had a tent, laundry lines with clothes on it and very well used paths everything. Once I saw that I left 1 ear cup off, I didn't want to have a deliverance moment happen to me!!!! Then I said to hell with it and left. On the way out I did find a 1962d penny. The main reason why I left is I didn't want to stumble upon a pot growing operation and get into trouble.

Cool...I also stopped by a spot near the camp that has seen activity since the earliest map, but didn't detect, I just wanted to check the place out. It was totally flooded and extremely muddy where there was no standing water. So instead, I stopped at Jewel on the way home for ice cream and found a 1940 nickel in the CoinStar. Not much, but at least there was something in there. Nice job on the liscence plate, you should post it.

We still down for tomorrow??

Those are some upscale hobos - clean laundry and all....

I agree with twistidd - pics of the license plate & salt shaker would be great.

Best of luck hunting your new spot!!!

Ok here is the pix. of the 1939 L.P. and the old salt shaker.

TF,

Do you think that perhaps the salt shaker is actually an inkwell? I'm looking at it now and it seems unlikely to have been a salt shaker due to its very small opening (would be difficult to get the salt in). I don't know...just wondering.
