CG, no doubt done after it left the mint, but whoever did it was rather good. I'm sure someone will chime in on how it was done.

Is the writing on the obverse really backwards? Did you do something in Photoshop?

Ooops did something to reverse the front :P. The back is what has everyone guessing? I think the surface was removed..... but how?

There is a slight edge to the "cut"? So acid may not be the answer.

I agree it is "most likely" tampered with. But......?

That's what I was thinking because the strike on the copper part is too detailed to have been covered with the "silver" layer when struck.

Thanks guys! So it's still possable it's an error. That penny is cool VT. I'd be thrilled if it is an error. Just too smooth a line. I have some prettty tallented guys around here and they are going to see if they can duplicate the quarter. We want to see if the copper image stays that perfect IF we can get the nickel layer off. I'll let you know.
