2 hours sweeping the yard. I tried hard to discriminate. Simplex on Park 2 mode. ID 0-15 for ferrous metals. I dug nothing lower that a 24 ID. Everything in the photo is ferrous except the little brass buckle. The buckle rang up at a solid 45. I destroyed my yard digging mostly IDs between 55 and 93. I really don’t expect a rusty nail to be an 88 ID. It is hard to not dig a 50 or higher. You could be passing on silver, copper or brass. I don’t think it’s due to soil mineralization. The screen reads none. The head stamp (magnetic) is a Western Xpert No. 20. That little buckle moves freely and in great condition. Hard to believe it was buried 6” down for years.

Destroyed your yard? Sounds like you need some tips on how to cut a proper trap door plug. :laughing7: Once you get the method down, you shouldn't be able to tell where you've been.

I can on smaller items sometimes. I find steel fence posts, chunks of tin roofing, farm machinery pieces that are large. Those leave big voids. I found a steel tractor seat the other day. I think it was around 10” deep. But you are right, I need to get better at the normal size stuff. 👍🏼

The Simplex just doesn't discriminate very well, but I've found a lot of great stuff with it. Just gotta dig it all!
Amen to that. Still a lot of fun for under $300
