So your down below checking out some old workings and then you come on to an old crosscut and wonder what it was all about, so you head in for a look-see. Your caplamp is shining ahead in the darkness and then you see something ahead just beyond the candle power of your caplamp, you move closer and then this comes into veiw. :blob3:

I would say its a powder magazine but I would be extremely excited..

IT MUST... be filled with Rum :)

That would be SO awesome to find. I would have that safe out of that mine post haste! Even if it took a Herculean effort!

BE CAREFULL !! Know before you do anything !! If that was used as
a powder mag. it could blow if moved because of the nitro that sweated out of the explosive sticks !!

Yeah probably the smart thing to do is paste it on the top, sides and bottom and blow the hell out of it.

Tread softly, I met a guy down by the American girl mine who had explored some mines down in SoCal that found a locked room full of old explosives. He explained that the old guys felt it safer to leave them than try and remove. Some time later that area collapsed, could have been the explosives finally went off?

I use to call on the American Girl Mine there around Witnterhaven, California. That's gotta be over 20 years ago now.
