I think I know what this button represents but I can't find an example. Help!
The more I clean up the pile of buttons I found around Charleston, the more "Odd" ones I find. This button is 7/8" in diameter. It has a crown at the "top" of the design inside a circular inscription. It seems to have a tudor rose in the middle and then four quadrants with pellets, rampant lions, etc. It has the word "Packet" in large letters between the circular inscription and the edge. I believe this indicates it was a button worn by someone in the British service whose unit delivered the mail, parcels, etc. I can find examples of buttons with the word "Packet" inside the circular inscription but I can't find any with "Packet" between the circle and the edge. The back is completely plain. Just a nub where the shank was. No back mark. No design.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Daryl
