I sold one of my books 4 weeks ago

Sorry to hear this Cyberdan. Do you print your own postage to have that tracking feature?

She may have opened a case, just to be sure, she doesn't lose her money(I'm sure she could have just pm'd you to say, "hey, I never got the book"). It shouldn't affect your feedback.

I would send her a nice and apologetic pm, let her know you value your feedback, VERY HIGHLY, and you would appreciate if she would not be hurtful that way. If she did leave bad feedback. perhaps report her, and say you feel you've been extorted (if that's the right word), or wronged to some degree and kindly ask if they could remove it.
Keep us posted. (I had a $600.00 jewelry deal go REAL BAD! But, the buyer was very kind, finally got her stuff, sent it back, and did leave me kind fb). Sometimes things happen beyond our control. Like I said, keep us posted, & good luck!

no tracking, it's just a $5 e-book on a CD with about 80¢ postage

I sell them all the time and never had a problem.

I just checked my FB and she left me this on Sept 9 (she bought the book Sept 4)

Fast and easy, just the way i like it. AAAAA+++++

Could she have gotten it and lost it then filed a claim?

Same thing happened to me last week . I sold some veneer samples , a month later ebay opens a case because the guy never got them . He never emailed me - just opened a case . I couldn't find my USPS receipt after a lot of hunting . I gave him a full refund and apologized . He gave me positive feedback - case closed . I hope all goes well cyberD .

I never ship without tracking. A 3 ounce first class parcel ships for $1.69, which includes free tracking if you print your postage out.

If she stated in her case that she never received it then why would she leave pos. fb? Sounds like she may have either lost it or she didn't like the info. that was in it (buyers remorse), either way I would contact her and ask what he deal is. At least it was a low dollar item.

Related question. The other day I had a problem with an EBay purchase and needed to contact the seller. I looked everywhere for the seller's e-mail, but couldn't locate it. I ended up going through EBay's "Contact Seller" link, which led me through the steps to open a case. Didn't see the need to be so formal, but couldn't see another option.

There was a time when I would receive an e-mail from the seller to complete a transaction, but now, all communications I receive seems to be routed through EBay. I have to believe there's a way to communicate directly with a seller, or at least, without opening a case.

Selling experts, please clue me in.

I have never had a problem contacting either buyer or seller, before or after an auction. Don't do it too often but never had to open a case.

I already shipped a replacement this AM. Does sound like she lost it. She told me it was going to be a Christmas present for her son. She probably hid it from him and then can't find it.

On the note of customer complaints. I deliver papers to a sub community, and at least once a week I get a "no paper" message the next day. But I only get so many papers then I'm empty at the end of the night. Here's the rub its always the same customers and its always during big town events. Or something special lol their scamming me and my paper office like ebay sides with the customer. Bad part I lose the fee and the face of the paper out of my check and they get a free paper. Customers will always try and get something got free, not saying what happened but the een might have had another child or grand child and decided to get another one and knew the loop hole. People play angles all the time it's just customer relations. Good luck and have a great day.

I'm curious how. I just tried a "dry run" with an undelivered purchase I recently made. Used the Contact Seller link, and again, EBay led me to open a case. Clearly I'm missing something......

Try looking through paypal. I just looked at an item I just purchased and although I don't have their address or phone number, I do have their email on paypal. You can message them through ebay but they monitor (or their software does) messages looking for emails and web addresses etc. so you can't "say" certain things in your messages or you won't be able to send it.

Ok, I figured out how to use the "Contact Seller" link and not open a case with EBay.

The "open a case" path comes if you associate the message with an item purchased AND select one of the preset reasons (problems) causing the need to communicate. If you choose "not about an item" OR select "other" under the preset list of reasons for the message, you can message the seller without the formality of opening a case.

diggummup, thanks for the tip on using PayPal to get the sellers' e-mail. Since the seller would necessarily use that e-mail address to receive PayPal notifications, I guess it's safe to assume the e-mail is being used, or at least monitored, by the seller. Again Peace.

I recently sent a message to a seller about something I bought that didn't fit the item he claimed it fit. When you click contact seller, it asks for the category the question is in. I clicked "item not as described". It said the person accepts refunds and asked if that answered my question or if I would like to contact the seller. I clicked contact seller and wrote him a message explaining the situation, and sent it. Apparently that opens a case. If I had realized I was opening a case, I would have found another way to message him. He refunded me, but I didn't mean to do it that way. That explains a time or two I had a case opened against me with no prior message from the buyer. I used to think they were being rude, but now I see how easy it is.

I shared a paper route and we had that problem too. We went on 'stake-out' because it was not everyday and not the same days each week. Turns it was a neighbor of theirs, whom they had problems with, who rode the bus a few days a week stealing the papers. They would watch for us to deliver the paper and go get it. We confronted the thief at the bus stop and called the police. After that all the papers to that house got rubber banded and bagged on to the front door handle, it was a pain but it stopped the no paper/no delivery calls.

NO! she files a claim with ebay. she is not a newbe either, she has 400 FB points.

just got note from the bay

Buyer closed this case on Oct 10, 2013 because the buyer received the item.

It didn't affect my FB

i sold a clarinet for $950 on ebay a few months ago to a guy in hawaii. they estimated shipping to be about 7 days. on the 8th day, i received notice that the buyer issued a claim against me. he never once contacted me and ended up receiving the clarinet the same day. it took him over a week to respond to my email and cancel the claim. UGHHHHH
