I had the opportunity to get out today and do some detecting. I started out in a field and about twenty minutes into the hunt I got a screaming signal. I dug about 7 inches down and there was the size and shape of what had to be a LC, or a silver Walker
. (We have recovered some Large Cents out of the same field in the past). The coin was caked with dirt, so I didn't even attempt to clean it until I got home. After lightly cleaning the coin I saw our 36th President, Mr. Lyndon B. Johnson staring right back at me. I flipped the coin over and saw the Sunoco logo with the words "The Sunoco Presidential Coin Series".
It's not what I expected, but I still think it's a pretty neat find. I have never heard about or seen one of these before. I'm sure that there’s more Large Cents or maybe even a Walker still out there in that field, so I'll be going back out soon. HH.
