That's one cool find. If they don't go together, they would now if I found 'em.
I keep an old coffee container with a 50/50 mixture of turpentine and raw linseed oil that has served me well for helping to stabilize wood as it dries out. Great on tool handles. It can be brushed, sprayed or just wiped on with a rag. Wood loves it and it smells good, too. Suggested to me by a lady archaeologist at the University of Florida way back in the 80s to stabilize a 6 foot end section of a pine canoe that I found in the river. She dated a small piece that I sent her from 1,000 to 1,100 years old. I don't remember who told me an easy to remember application rate of once a day for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year, and once a year forever.
Thanks for all the info!
I was told, from some on this site, that it is call a coffee bean pipe and dates 500bc and earlier...
Which makes me question the stem part. Huge coincidence of the stem did not fit the bowl at one time.
