I Need Help with Buttons-Please!!!!!!

Can someone help with the history and name of this type of button.....they are sterling silver with 950 or 960 on back, with makers name, and a very different back on it......there is a fan, boat, temple, cat etc......thanks lazysj

thanks so much for the interest in these.......on the back it says "KUYEDA" & 950-S (or it could be 960) it's hard to read, i suppose that is for the "silver".......i got these from a lady that got them in the 30's while her husband was stationed over seas............i have looked everywhere to get info on these and have had no luck...................thanks for helping or for at least trying to help.........Lazysj

sorry that I wasn't able to find very much but did find that it's K. uyeda. I also found alot of this kind of thing:http://www.trocadero.com/dmitry/items/375705/item375705.html I know that they produced sterling silver in the `30s and I also found reference to K. uyeda in Korea in the `50s, but if it's the same folks, I believe your stuff is earlier and from japan! All the K. uyeda silver that I found was very valuable, in fact the link above goes to one of the less expensive that I found (I just used that site because they had a good picture!) If these pieces have "950" stamped on them, they are "Platinum" and worth more than you think! Use a 10x coin/jewelry scope to be sure!

Thanks for all the info, but can you tell me "Platinum"? as compared to "silver"....... it reads 950-S, doesn't that mean it is silver??

Ohhh! 950 "S"? Well why didn't you say so!? Yes, 950 with an "S" after it means "Sterling silver"!
