I need help on deciphering metal clues.

I am working on a site and have found a metal file/rasp about 15 1/2 inches long under a rock and a few inches below the surface. It was running in a North and South direction. I cannot find information pertaining to metal clues (such as files, plow points and double ax heads, metal wheel rings and horseshoes). I have seen all of these! Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Might be you're just on an old farm place, but some of those KGC guys talk about things like that being used as markers. Might check with them.

Thank you for your reply. I do know that the KGC used metal clues or markers. I believe it corresponds to the template as far as distance and so forth. I just would like to know if anyone has been successful with deciphering what they really mean such as distance. I don't think the KGC would just give me their secrets. If you know of someone, that would be helpful that would be great. Thanks again.
