Hey been having problems with finding a great program for coins. (deeper) I had a great one in machine for years and lost it and i just cant tweak it back were it was. If anyone has a great program i would like to hear. I live in jersey and mostly hunt for coins in fields and woods, no beach hunting program. i would appreciate any help. Thanks HH Mark P.S. i also use a wot coil

The fields or woods shouldn't be to trashy, just hunt wide open in Ferrous Sounds or -15 Iron Mask or -14 Iron Mask, and dig all tones above the low tones, can't be that many targets above iron trash in the woods but watch out with the rusted crown caps in ferrous mode, they sound good in ferrous but show up middle right section of screen, once you dig some you will know where they hit on the screen. If you use -12 or less you shouldn't hear any low tones any more but you will gets nulls over iron trash and your swings should be at a turtle speed. For a coin only program, well you just put it in -8 Iron Mask, and Conduct Sounds so the rusted crown caps will be a mid tone. The tighter you go with a coin program the more nulls you will have and your swing will have to come to a stop to regain the threshold sound. I have a only coin program saved where only the top right corner is open plus where the nickel hits but when I do use it my swing from right to left takes 5 to 6 seconds. Happy trail 2 U ...

My thoughts on Explorer patterns....The Explorer can really set some tight patterns to cherry pick wanted targets from unwanted ones. But, it can make you miss some finds you might want. I use Iron mask -10. This screen I made up is where quite a few of my silver dimes have hit (top middle left side). The far left crosshair I dug a barber dime that locked solid there, but screamed silver and had a beautiful sound. When I dug the dime and rechecked the hole, it was a solid null, so there had to be iron in the hole with it. A tight pattern would miss a target like that. These that hit to the left of where a dime would normally hit come from highly mineralized soils or places that have a lot of iron trash. Also some coins on edge will bounce around on the screen and not lock in to one particular spot like you would think they should. It is targets like these that the audio is your best friend.
My suggestion is that if you want to use a tight pattern in discrimination mode, that you have your iron mask set to -10 or lower(-11,-12,-13,>) and then when you get a target that won't lock on in your pattern, but does hit good once in a while, you can switch to iron mask to investigate that target. Then you can switch back to your pattern screen. There are alot of neat tricks you can do with an Explorer that will give you multiple ways of helping you tell if a target is one you want to dig or not.
