We took a ride up north today to meet up with StormTrooper to do some detecting in Turner Oregon. We got permission to hunt the grounds around a huge church built in 1891. I didn't do so good, but StormTrooper found a couple goodies. Hopefully he'll post pic's soon ~ he got an Indian Head Cent and a cool old token thingy. I think I was more excited about the token than he was! After hunting the church grounds we went around the school grounds ~ nothing old, just modern pocket change. I ended up with $1.10 in clad. Still it was a fun day!

ya gatta love this Hobie, nothing like it keep swinging.

Hey Neil, I had a great time detecting with you yesterday. You have a really lovely family and I am excited for next weeks "Hunted Out Park" challenge. The Indian didn't clean up well, but it was a 1907. I sure wish that site was cooperative...Because I know we could have pulled lots of nice keepers from it!

Here is the token I found....
The Ancient Order of United Workmen, Founded in 1863
Each Lodge has a name that I can see....So this is from lodge #13, The "Safety Lodge"
I cant figure out a date for the token, however this is a low number lodge number, so I am guessing it was from a earlier established lodge.

Great finds even if they were far and few in between. Glad to see the two of you had a good day swinging the detectors together. HH

Yeah, The site was really rocky and full of hot rock signals. I tried to crank my sen down, but I was still having a hard time. The older finds that I got came from a small section, maybe .05% of the whole site. This was the only area along the treeline that wasnt rocky.

Always great to have a huntin buddy~....and I love to see the huntin pictures too!

Congrats on the finds and the fun day! Nana :)

WOW ~ that is GREAT!! I love that stuff! Finding old coins and stuff is cool, but finding things like this old token is AWESOME!

treasures aside i'm just impressed you went to church what a great way to get your religion in for the week.

Good job guys! Love the token too.

Boy it has been tough lately with the weather anyway! Me and my buddy go out detecting and the ground is so hard and crumbly, that it is difficult to get good signals. The signals you do get are nearly impossible to decipher and pinpointing is terrible. We have had some good places to hunt, but the ground conditions are pathetic.

LOL ~ yeah, I've spent enough time of my life inside churches ~ now I'll stick to staying outside digging up treasure from their lawns!

I thought that might get a laugh out of ya I would like to find a good silver or gold cross or somthing like that I was hoping for that when we detected that church on river rd all i have ever found here is boy scout items I've got a good excavation coming up might be good i'll let ya know. Kip

It's nice when you can get a partner to hunt with. Nice token.
