I went out to the Boyce property for and hour and half after work today and dug up some great bullets. I got my first Enfield and it was a beauty when I saw it, I had flipped it out of the hole and it took me about a minute before I saw it. I just kept digging the hard dry ground deeper and deeper till I finally gave up and rescanned the area then saw it laying on top of the ground. I ended up with four .54 cal Gardners, two .54 cal three ringers, and the awesome Enfield. Thanks for looking and HH!!

Is that a bullet inside melted lead or a rock? Forgive me for my stupidity. Anyway, nice finds.

No it was one of the bullets in a clump of clay. I had to use the shovel to break it apart to get the bullet out.

Ditto on digging CS lead F2 and was there a base mark in the Enfield cavity? WTG & HH, Q.

Thanks Quindy!
No it has a cone cavity.

....and I love seeing it! Thanks for posting the pictures. CS troops were so careful with their cartridges I have found it rare to dig musket balls from their camps. What about you?

Thanks Johnny!,
Yea i have only dug a few musket balls since I've started detecting.

Awesome CW era bullets . Are Enfield type bullets more uncommon in the Northern Theater of the war? .I've dug many over the years here [in the N. Atlanta area] but I have only dug 3 or 4 Gardner Types. p.s. keep em coming. LOL Maybe the Eastern Theater would be the correct term.

Yea I guess they are a bit harder to find around here. My cousin has found about 4 or 5 to his 400 - 500 bullets total. I have the one to my about 300 total. I've found about 25 Gardners in the past two years.
