I like the Safari visual ID

I have a 5" deep tilted dime in the backyard. The ID only jumps 34-36 & is the same when I turn 90 degrees. Why would anyone think this is poor?

When I try most other detectors I own the ID bounces much more & may not even ID from some angles. But I will agree the tone ID is excellent, too. I was sweeping medium speed, tried both long & short sweeps & had disc on coins. I was using auto sensitivity.

In this bad ground, a 5" deep tilted coin will stay there for years or decades.

Just about everyone says you must go at a snails pace, using almost no disc & do not pay any attention to the numbers.

Maybe those are valid statements for coins that are the very deepest that can be detected. But with moderate sweep speed, different angles of approach, short or long sweeps, high disc & using visual ID it is already beating out at least 90-95% of the other ones I've tried.

Does anyone else think it works this good when doing everything wrong? Yes, I'm being a troublemaker again! But seriously, no offense intended. Just wondering how deep people have seen accurate visual IDs vs. accurate tone IDs? Thanks & best wishes, George (MN)

It's when you're around trash where the ID becomes more of a concern, and where I hunt it would be a concern most of the time. (why I never use it) As for the swing speed you adjust to the trash level. In clean ground you can swing at a good pace, but around a lot of iron etc. you really have to slow down. The same goes for the length of your sweep.... full sweep is ok in clean ground, but around a lot trash you should really cut it down.

Iron Patch, thanks so much for clarifying that. Best wishes & HH, George (MN)
