This weekend I was using Google Earth to check out some the more rural areas near my house for any potential detecting spots. I found a small elementary school that is about 10 miles away that I had never noticed in my travels. Yesterday, I decided to take a drive there to do a little recon and fortunately found that the gate was open.
A two hour hunt produced a handful of clad, a couple of wheats and an Eisenhower dollar. It was only an inch or so below the surface and based on its condition I don't think it was dropped too long ago. My guess is that a kid recently brought it to school to show it off and ended up losing it. Nevertheless, it's still not a common coin for me to dig up and I'm happy to have found it.
