heres my finds for today. I am poor and havetn been able to pick up any halves yetlol. Due to my schedule today I didnt get to stop at a bank so I picked up soem rolls of cents from the gas station.

8 rolls-400 cents searched

93 coppers
skunked on wheates
One CAN cent
two dimes

at an almost 25% coppers ratio plus the two dimes I am more than happy with this. Just wish I had more rolls to search lol

That is a good ratio of copper cents I think Klava. My husband searches pennies and he just told me he doesn't think his ratio is that good on boxes......so kudos to you buddy. Hopefully the Wheat's will show themelves next time......keep plugging and good luck and the next search.

From what I have read 25% is great for coppers. The 13 bucks i got from the bank the other day netted 297 coppers for 22.8 percent. I'll take it. I still prefer hunting nickels after hitting a silver war nickel my first time hunting though lol. What is the percentage of wheats your husband usually finds?

Also out of all the cents i have searched I have a 21.1% copper rate. So i dont consider it a waste of time. it's fun if nothing else lol

He said he finds about 6-10 Wheat's per box. His best box was 24 and he said the worst was 3....better than a skunk huh....lol.

Congrats on the War Nick......I would like to search more nickels myself....only one box so far this year. The halves just keep me too darn busy.

Im planning on starting half searching once I get my refund back. Right now I just dont have the cash on hand to go in and say Ill take all you have lol. Besides thats where the real money is anyway right? Tommorow Im gonna go to the bank and just go ahead and pick up a box of pennies. That should last me a little while(probably a day) lol Im already losing sleep searching lol

This hobby can get expensive pretty fast. The nice thing about halves is its a good payout when you do find silver. bad news is, if you find a bunch your funds can get depleted quickly. Forcing you to sell to recoup. Its a balancing act. Id turn the coppers in and go to dimes and halves, Better pay out. unless you have a buyer for the copper.
even if you can only get a few rolls of halves, get em. no one said you had to start out buying a full box at a time. You may find that just a few dollars in halves in a tellers tray are %40s or a dirty 90. One hand roll of 90s makes you ten times the money back.

Thanks for the advise. I have aplace to get rid of the coppers withouht breaking any laws. I do plan to ask about halves when i go to get a box of cents tommorow. I figure if I dont have enough money to cover what they have Ill just get what I can afford. I also have thought of hunting dimes. What is your average keeper rate? Do you find many silvers in hand rolled dimes? I know i cant afford to buy a bag lol. I have also been searching nickels a bit. Keeping back pre 60s, war nickels and looking for speared bison nickels. I did well in the 20 bucks i searched including 1 war nickel. Is there any buyers for the silver in war nickels?

When I start getting silver halves I should be able to store themn back unless something arrises or I end up gettting a craload of them. Whats the best place to sell em?

Copper pennies average about 19.5% here. Wheats about 5-8 per box.
How much are you selling your copper for, Klava?

Tim, I can get 2 cents a peice out of them so thats 100% profit. I havent sold any yet and dont really plan to anytime soon. 1 I dont have enough to fool with selling them and 2 I plan to hold onto them a little longer. Now this will change when I get the sorter lol. I figure then Ill sell most and keep back the really nice ones:-)
