Hey, congrats on your new found passion! I am sorry I don't know about that machine, but I would, as a long-time detectorist, encourage you to spend some hours in research. Your local historical society or library should have old maps and local histories that will put you on the right track.

Newer machines are lighter and give you more information but you can find just about as much with yours. For every good find expect to dig dozens of pieces of junk. Frequent disappointment with occasional elation is sort of how the hobby works. Get a good digger, get a good pinpointer, take you time, learn your machine and enjoy the hunt whether it produces or not.

any good brands for those tools you listed??
And thank you!

Pinpointer - Garrett Propointer, i.e. Garrett Carrot for its bright orange color.
Digger - Lesche brand

AWESOME!!!! thanks everyone!!! ill keep ya guys updated if interested!!!

Beware of counterfeit Garrett pinpointers.

where can i get a battery?

Your Soverign (with the optional meter/display) is about the same era as my Minelab Musketeer.

Mine came with the NiCad block and also a tray to use (8) AA size batteries. See if you have a tray the same size as the NiCad pack somewhere. Going to be hard to locate one for sale.

You should be able to disassemble the NiCad pack and solder together eight AA rechargeable batteries - in series. That is, if you have the wall charger with that plug connector. If you know anyone who flies electric RC they should be able to reproduce that pack using new components. There's a little trick to soldering rechargeable batteries together.

Or, you could contact Minelab. The Soverign was available until not too long ago and they might have a pack that will fit yours.

You can buy a battery pack online. Just google it.

Susan?s got you covered. The orange one she?s referring to is specifically the Propointer AT. Waterproofed so worth the small cost difference (IMO).

With Lesche, use the search function on TNet to get info. I recall something about a split in the company that makes them so there is one that is better than the other but both are ?Lesche? brand...

Make sure you specify the early "boxy" case Soverign and not the later, rounded case Soverign GT model. You need the one with the plug rather than just bare contacts.

Thanks evryone!!!! greatly appreciated!!!!

Welcome to Tnet .. .. .. .. .. ..:hello:

When you make your purchase On the pin pointer, If you stick to any of our sponsors That advertise here on Tnet, you can't go wrong

You have one of the best detectors out there the Sovereign I still use one it is the best but a little heavy they say but the weight never bothered me.
