I knew it would finally pay off! (TUESDAY UPDATE!)
Hey everyone
I have a park near me that was donated to the city in the 1920s. It has been POUNDED by a duo from what I've been told by a few people who regularly go there, and it shows. Usually when I go I give up and only have 2-3 coins, and they're almost always new.
Well today was different. I went out there determined to find something good. The mosquitoes were awful and I didn't have bug spray but like I said, I was determined. I also also going to dig all the junk signals too because I was hoping to find stuff masked by trash.
My first good find was what turned out to be a gold necklacs, about an inch down! This is my first confirmed gold find!
The second was just as I was giving up because of the mosquitos. It was getting late so I was working my way back to the car when I got a nice dime signal, and pulled out a 1925 merc! That's my first silver from the park! Now I HAVE to go back lol
I also found a wheat penny in the dark but haven't washed it yet so I don't know the date.
Can anyone recommend a good bug spray that actually works? lol

Well I went back to that park after work with the same goal...dig everything not iron. I ended up with a total of 72 bottlecaps or pulltabs but one of the bottlecaps had a merc in the same hole! I'm using high sensitivity with bottlecap reject set at 1. It's forcing me to dig a lot of bottlecaps that sound good, but I'm convinced that without it, I wouldn't have found that merc!
I should add that I got that 40% deet spray that was recommended here and didn't get a single bite! Thanks
