I keep reading that the Nkta/Makro machines...

:occasion14:

Racer hit my normal test garden good to go. Have another garden set up for my v5 but not hit that one...deep is not the reason I got the Racer, trashy sites and the small coil is why I got one.

Ppl don't know or are scared that their high dollar machine may be out done by the Nokta Fors or racer..you hear the same thing about the AT pro till too many ppl had one and then nobody could dispute the claims. When enough ppl realize the abilities of these machines the smack talk will stop then it will be what can we do to compete with them.
I just had a fellow club member show up to the monthly club hunt with a Nokta and was his virgin run and was happy with it. The machine will find just about anything in the ground..if it can find a piece if gold the size of half a grain of rice 4-5" down it can find a coin.
Any of you tried the ballpoint pen trick yet? Only thing metal on a big pen is the ball point and its tiny yet my Nokta can read that easy a few inches away on low power. Try doing that with your typical machine, you cant I tried and wont work.

I don't think it has anything to do with price, I think it is because they are a new name in America and made in Turkey... They will learn...

I have always said that a high cost detector is no better than a lower cost one ... It is only better in one's own mind....... & Dream's.

Took racer on maiden voyage yesterday and found a couple dollars in clad, I have been hunting same area with my ATP. Like the weight and balance of the Racer, going to try small coil today.

I sorta agree with Keppy, I found many coins with the el cheapo detector I started with. Biggest issue was it came with an 8" coil and had no other optional coils available. I upgraded to a better quality mid range name brand detector that came with a 9x11 DD coil. I could get deeper and needed to overlap less than the cheaper detector with a concentric coil. Since then I went to the top of the line detector and have yet to find many deeper targets than the mid-level detector. I do not regret going with the top of the line detector, it has more features and I can use the VDI in all metal mode which was not an option on the mid level machine. I learned to discriminate less and dig more.

It all depends on what you want. Do you want all the bells and whistles? Does having GPS on your detector tickle your pickle? Most midrange machines like an AT pro will do just about all you need, so will a fisher f5 but for those who have used nothing but lower end machines you can not say that it will perform just as good, pick u same amount of items etc as an AT pro, an F75, a ctx 3030, a deus or a nokta fors gold.
I've had morons walk up to me and act as though their WalMart $99 bounty hunter is as good as my Garrett AT pro..tell me don't bother to detect here because they covered the place with theirs, as he told me my machine was cheap, hell my grey ghost headphones cost more than his machine, my stainless steel shovel that I make cost more..does that mean its better than his, in this case hell yes, i just laughed at him and went on my way and collected the items he couldn't find.
Basically im saying until you have tried more than just a low end machine you really have nothing to base your comparison on. I've had several machines and im down to 4 but I mainly use my Nokta Fors gold because it has all I need and gets the job done very well, I haven't learned it completely because it has nuances im not yet accustomed to yet. I think its all about learning your machine but making sure you are happy with what it can do and also being honest with yourself do you need GPS, do you need a cup holder, do you need it to talk to you etc or is that for showing off.
