I just got my Ace 250.

Just got mine as well. I chose it simply because of all the members here who spoke highly of it. Cost also played an important factor.

I believe I read here that you should run the 1st 12" or so of the cable straight-up the stem, and not wrapped around it. If that's incorrect, someone please correct me. That's how I did mine.

I also did the same to my Ace 250 and it stopped the erratic false signals.

Most metal detector coils detect above as well as beneath the
coil and this probably contributes to a lot of the " false " signals.
Things like worn jewelry , metal buckles on knee pads, digging tools and coil cables , or sweeping under metal objects can make the detector react as if there is something under the coil.
