i just don't know and it's bothering me ?

i found this item on the hill behind my house nice ol' 1860's site. can anyone identify this . copper. i found a book full of photos from early 1800's of places all around here

so far im not just finding treasure i'm starting to unlock a mystery. the mystery includes 6 arrowheads-many burnt items-items from horse and cart or buggy? and the ominous 2 shovels in one hole with a sheet ?? thanks for the buckle id im going to let it go for a minute before i mark it solved so folks can view my item

It is really a suspender clip. Overalls back then generally had buttons. But the principle of the later overall clips is the same. These are common finds at old homesteads--but the one you found is a great looking one.

Did you post this before? There was a suspender clip posted here exactly like this one.

I tried a patent search from your last post but couldnt match it. There are many different clips. Looks similar to the second one top left.

It is not an exact match to any in the photo you posted, Big Cy. I know because--I dug them all!


But it is almost an exact match to the one in the photo below (bottom left):
