I hope someone knows what this is!

I found this in a field that is actively being used each year. I found it 8-10" deep and aging pretty much flat. It's placed on a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. Any ideas? It's the same on both sides.

How is that field being used every year? I found an item of similar shape and size that turned out to be a side clasp for a rubber swing on a playground swing set. That, to me, looks like it could be half of one, maybe older or for a larger swing. Just my input.
