I have the parts; let's rebuild it!

I found all of this stuff in the same hole, but it came out one piece at a time. The location was a "rails to trails" path in Baltimore City. I found a wheat about 20' away, but then I found a 1970's dime only 10' away. The part on the lower right looks like if I unfolded it, it would match the part on the lower left. The gear still attached to that part is about the size of a 50 cent piece. I'm guessing a clock because that quarter sized piece in the middle reminds me of the flywheel on a pocket watch I once disassembled. Patent specialists: is there any significance to the 4099 on what appears to be a hanger?

Is it old enough to have been tossed out of a "Ma and Pa" train or was it more likely dumped down the hill by a local? Thanks for reading.

The 4099 is likely a manufacturers number. I see a "Y" on the flat rectangular piece, towards the top center, any other letters on it?

Yes, it was a clock at one time. (Reply #33 in the next link) If you do not have the "Clocks" section ignored, you will be able to view it. (I don't know WHY it was moved there. "My Collections" would've been a better place for it...)

Someone posted a photo of this type of clock, non-dug, a while back on the forum. I'm not having much luck finding it, though.

Best Wishes,

Dang! Love that link. For y'all that didn't bother following the link above, or didn't scroll through the whole thing: Buckleboy himself has a pic about 1/3 of the way down with 4 pieces that look just like my lower left item. Link below:

Green check time.

Hey Bigcypresshunter: I wish mine was patented in the 1860's. Still, it is significantly rarer than a pulltab.
