I have the 15" WOT coil, should I replace with the SEF 15" X 18"

I have used the WOT coil on the beach & some fields with great success with it using my SE the past 2 years.

I upgraded to the E-trac last year & was wondering if the 15" x 18" SEF coil (with this new technology) would be a better coil to use than the WOT where the conditions permit.

I have a Minelab Sovereign GT, and I have both the WOT and the SEF Butterfly 15"x18" for it. I am a beach hunter, my first trip out with the SEF it found 2 rings, one silver, and one gold....I found the extra 3 inches in length is nice in that you have more coverage walking forward. If I walk at my normal med slow speed it gets complete coverage walking forward, not missing any strips between sweeps moving forward. I do not have to concentrate on making sure I do not miss any thing on sweeps. Depth seems to at least be the same as the WOT so far, but have only taken it for a walk a couple times before I had my surgery, it could be deeper. It is a great coil in my personal opinion.... It is a HEAVY coil, I highly recommend a harness with bungie if you use it.....

Today's hunt was my first hunt since late October, and the primary purpose of this hunt was to test the new waterproof connectors on my Excalibur with WOT coil...Test was a success, coil was very stable, I had it underwater chest deep for over an hour with out a single problem. I can now switch out coils on the Excal in less then 2 minutes if I want. ;D

Covering the most sand in the least amount of time without missing any area between the sweeps is the name of the game that results in the most targets found at the end of the day. The larger coils do that for you.

We've all seen the hunters swinging very quickly like a pendulum with the coils high on the ends of the swings. The area that they cover the deepest is right in front of them an the targets found by the end of the hunt show this. The larger coils don't only go deeper, they cover more area at the bottom of the field where it counts. :headbang:
